Big Break 2009!

Posted by SUCru on Feb 22, 2009 in Misc

Here’s the deal.

Every year, tons of college kids head to the beach for a week without the stress and ridiculousness of classes. It seems only logical, then, for us to plan a week of fun and debauchery too. (Well… maybe not so much “debauchery” because we DO have standards, but trust us, it will be a week you won’t soon forget!)

Big Break is a one-week mission experience that gathers students from colleges and universities from all over the country in Panama City Beach, Florida. Spend the week growing in your walk with God, exploring biblical truths and learning how to talk to your friends about your faith. It’s a week of messages by well-known speakers, sharing the gospel on the beach, fellowshipping and just plain hanging out with friends.

THE DETAILS:
Where: The Edgewater Beach Resort in Panama City Beach, Florida
When: March 7th-14th
Conference Fee: $259 (this doesn’t include transportation or food money)
Registration Deadline: FEBRUARY 28TH
Register at: http://big-break.com/

We know this is a bit late notice, and for that we’re very sorry; a group of us only decided to go this past weekend. Please prayerfully consider coming! We’re heading down to Florida for the week to experience God in a whole new way. There’s worship, fellowship, speakers, time with God (on beautiful beaches, no less) and all that other amazing stuff you get on retreats and conferences. Then as an added bonus, we learn how to evangelize and talk to people about our faith…and actually get the chance to put it into action. It’s Spring Break, so the beach is going to be loaded with college kids trying to fill an empty hole in their lives. Talk about opportunity! Don’t let the money freak you out; if God wants you to go, He’ll make it happen! If you want to go, you should start raising money as soon as possible. There is a letter template posted on the facebook event; just change the names and the date, include a self-addressed, stamped return envelope and you’ll be good to go.

Here’s some food for thought:
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve of what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:1-2

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:15-16

I know it sounds scary, but this trip is going to be absolutely incredible! Take a step of faith—God knows what He’s doing!

*ALSO: if you have a van/bigger automobile of some sort that you’d be willing to lend, please let us know!
